New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players Present The Mikado
The New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players (NYGASP) will showcase their acclaimed production of ?The Mikado? at the Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall. This performance highlights the creative collaboration of costume designer Quinto Ott, set designer Anshuman Bhatia, and director David Auxier, with production led by David Wannen. The narrative intertwines real-life figures from Victorian London's D'Oyly Carte Opera Company with the fictional setting of Titipu, reflecting the influence of late 19th-century Japanese art and architecture.
Described as ?a comic gem? by The New York Times, the story revolves around a love triangle involving a schoolgirl, a wandering minstrel, and a Lord High Executioner. The production features an original prologue by Auxier that contextualizes Gilbert's inspirations and emphasizes diversity in casting, inviting performers from various backgrounds to engage with this classic work. Tickets are currently available for purchase, with options for donations to support local student initiatives and programming during the UNLV PAC's upcoming anniversary season.

"New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players, an awesome performer, put on the best performance I have ever seen. My feet hurt the next day from dancing and singing for over two straight hours without sitting down. All of which plays a big part in how the fans will react. Most of all, it was obvious that he doesn't just sing for the money, it is his passion. New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players rocked the crowd and had them participating the whole time. I will be at every concert that he has fairly close to where I live as long as I am able, including Prince whom I saw a couple of years ago and had waited to see for 20 years."
